Dreams FC youngster Precious Boah first half sensational free-kick in the 34th minutes was enough to propel Ghana’s Black Satellites to the final stage of the Afcon U20 Cup of Nations tournament against Gambia’s Young Scorpions in the semi-final clash at Stade Olympique in Nouakchott.
Coach Abdul Karim Zito’s team modestly revenged after a 2-1 defeat against the young Scorpions in the group stage to beat them in their semi-final meeting.
The game was really slow at the start with both teams not showing signs of earnestness in the first few minutes of the game but the Satellites were able to set foot by pressuring their opponent.
The Gambians had some of the possession of the game but couldn’t find the target while their defence continued to turn out wonky under pressure in the first fragment.
Back from recess, Precious Boah and Afriyie were tormenting the Gambians defenders as Issahaku also doing same at the right flank.
Abdul Fatawu who contributed massively in the first half came into the second half with a renewed energy displayed an eye-catching performance together with experience defender Assinki and Quaye to seal Ghana’s victory over the Gambians.
Just fifteen minutes left on the clock, Ghana’s Fatawu courageously flip a reasonable ball to his teammates who was unmarked on the flank regardless of the bad tackles he was receiving but his player’s effort wasn’t high enough to threaten experience goalkeeper Lamin Saidi of Gambia.
Afriyie missed the last great chance of the game after a fantastic run from Matthew Cudjoe.
Ghana are through to the final of the 2021 Africa U20 Cup of Nations in Mauritania following a 1-0 victory over Gambia.
