Asante Kotoko has been declared 2-0 winners against Mauritanian side Nouadhibou FC in the second leg of the CAF champions league.
Asante Kotoko SC welcomed FC Nouadhibou to Accra Sports Stadium after their draw trip in the CAF Champions League preliminarily stage clash after ending on a one-all stalemate in the first leg at Stade Cheikha Boidiya stadium last week in Nouakchott, Mauritania.
The Porcupine Warriors were not comfortable after 90minutes played. Kotoko felt they were robbed of victory after a doubtful penalty was given to the home side by a Malian Referee.
Back to the country’s capital stadium, (Accra Sports Stadium), the Porcupine Warriors were declared 2-0 winners of the game after officials led the lads to the field for the formal declaration after the Mauritanian side FC Nouadhibou failed to appear on the pitch delaying over an hour.
According to reports, two players of the side were tested positive for Covid-19 which led to the postponement of the match from Saturday to Sunday.
The game was rescheduled today 6th December, 2020 but the same players returned positive again after re-test on match day.
However, the match was called off due to the visitor’s officials refusal to play with their 14-man squad left.
Kotoko SC have now qualified to the next round with 3-1 aggregate.
