It was a felicitous night for the Royals as they finally end their winless run against Sogakope based club, West African Football Academy (WAFA) after they enjoyed a 1-0 slim win in the ongoing campaign at Accra Sports Stadium on Friday night.
Despite the numerous strikes on target from both sides, the virginity of the game still remained unbroken from the start of the game till the end of first half.
The heated first half ended goalless.
Just three minutes after recess, Legon Cities broke the virginity of the game through forward Joseph Adjei when they were honored a penalty in the 48th minute after young Mathew Anim Cudjoe was fouled in the penalty yard box.
The Academy Boys improved in the second half but just did not have enough chances to really trouble the home side.
Cities tactically hold onto the only goal in the game till the end of the second half to secure them their first crucial three points after seven games played.
“I think this will be a booster for us going forward. Naturally, when you win games it motivates you to win the next, so I am confident that we will build on this victory.”- Bashir Hayford reveals after victory.
Legon Cities who were lying at the bottom of the table (relegated zone) have now move to 15th place on the log while WAFA remains third on the league table with 13points.
