MATCH REPORT: AshantiGold SC 0-1 Liberty – Kwaku’s lone goal helps visitors to secure first away victory.

Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi was the venue of attraction where AshantiGold SC held Liberty Professionals in the ongoing Ghana Premier League campaign on Sunday afternoon.

In the last four matches played in the GPL 2020/21 season, both AshantiGold SC and  Liberty Professionals have found it difficult to taste victory but Kweku Karikari’s sumptuous strike in the 39th minute helped the visitors to return to winning ways after five matches played.

Just after the first blast in the game from the centre-man Bashiru Dauda, Eric Esso was eagerly wanting to break the deadlock but his through searching pass to his partner could not threaten experience goalkeeper Kofi Baah.

David Abagna Sandan tried the first shot of the game but his effort was over the goal post.

Osei’s reckless tackle awarded the visitors a dangerous free kick at the edge of the Miners’ penalty box but the player failed to make that count as his effort hits human wall.

Just after recess, The Scientific Soccer Lads found their confidence under coach David Ocloo but their enormous output in the second half could not double the score as it ended 0-1.

Richard Osei Agyemang, two others from his side and four lads from the Miners had their names in the book of the centre referee for unfair tackles.

The second half of the live showdown recorded no goal.

Kwaku nailed it from the start of the game to seal a maximum points for the visitors, lifting them from the 16th position to 13th on the league table as they escape relegation zone now.

The Obuasi outfit after defeat are now sitting 10th with seventeen points on the league table.
